This is the latest shiver of Ferrari’s customer-commissioned Atelier Ferrari service – the Superamerica 45. Based on a standard 599, its bespoke framework was spaced by New York real estate magnate and Fez collector, Peter Kalikow, and includes a rotating hard-top. Just like the Renault Wind. Only made out of carbon fibre.Save for the bespoke roof, alike carbon boot into which it can collapse and some stodgy b-pillars, it’s not massively different from the production 599. There’s an aluminum a-pillar trim here, chrome front grill there and a set of new wing mirrors in between. Oh, and that somewhat turgid WKD blue paintwork.

It was painted thus to mach Kalikow’s other Blue Antile Fez – a 1961 Ferrari 400 Superamerica. Marnaello’s paint smith’s set off the unique tone by finishing its lower peripheral appendages in a slightly darker shade, then splashing some colour onto its diamond-cut wheels. Inside, dark blue carbonfibre trim and instrumentation clashes wildly with 'cuoio' brown leather trim. This isn’t Kalikow’s first go at customizing a Ferrari: in 2006 he commissioned Pininfarina to create the 612 Kappa, which is based on a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. Tweaks were self-effacing and included gentle reshaping of the bodywork, Enzo rear lights, chrome headlight bezels and a photovoltaic sunroof, allowing manual modification of its tint.

750bhp ‘Moby Dick’ Panamera

A Panamera Turbo doesn’t differentiate itself as the most inconspicuous looking vehicle on the road, but edo competition takes it a step further still. So far the specialist company from Ahlen in Westphalia has mainly had sports cars from manufacturers such as Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche in its classify books, but now edo competition has taken on a four-door sedan from Porsche, and accomplished a customization project incorporating numerous upgrades.

An important visual constituent was the aerodynamics package from Mansory, which was installed on a customer’s request. The new rear valance provides a lot of room for the high performance exhaust system developed by edo competition, featuring four large stainless steel exhaust tips and butterfly valves. The edo electronic lowering module offers precise handling and improved vehicle dynamics. The new 22 wheels do their part to enhance the Panamera’s athletic appearance. If desired, the wheels can be custom painted to match the exterior of the vehicle or to provide a contrast. The main focus, however, was on routine. It’s not that a stock Panamera Turbo is short on power, but if a customer asks for an extra helping, edo resist is more than happy to provide somewhere to stay these wishes and come up with a proficient solution.

Engine of 750bhp ‘Moby Dick’ Panamera

After a progress time of almost two years, the technicians have finalized an engine that is – in contrast to the efforts of others – not the product of a project with ever-increasing supremacy targets and a mass of tweaks, but one that was designed for big power from the outset. The amount produced of the Panamera’s twin-turbo V8 was increased from 500bhp to 750bhp, enabling the four-door sedan to accelerate from 0-100kmh in under 4s, and to achieve an electronically governed top speed of 340kmh, depending on the tyres used. As part of the engine modifications, the exhaust system was also completely redesigned. The revised tips complement the design of the new carbon fibre rear valance and a fantastic exhaust note adds to the driver’s enjoyment. An upgraded interior provides the ultimate touch.

Interior Design of  750bhp ‘Moby Dick’ Panamera

In order to great the visual and sensory characteristic of the product, edo competition also stanch attention to core upgrades. According to the customer’s wishes, leather and fabric were combined with the finest wood, lacquer, metal or carbon fibre surfaces. All of it norm made and therefore only one of its kind. Perfect stitching on dashboards and seats as well as personalized interior accents showcase world-class craftsmanship. Steering wheels, consoles, pedals, seats or a complete interior; virtually everything can be tailored to the customer’s tastes. All modifications were conceded out exclusively at edo competition Motorsport GmbH in Ahlen.

 McLaren’s new MP4-12C : Initial Intuition

 McLaren’s new MP4-12C

The hang around is over. After 18 months of technological foreplay, the McLaren MP4-12C is finally here, and we've actually driven it.
Yes, we know it has a startling carbon fiber chassis, a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 that pumps out almost 600bhp and rockets the car to 62mph in a whisker over three seconds and on to a top speed of 205mph while also coughing out just 279g/km of CO2. And yes, we know that Ron Dennis insists that his amazing team of boffins and geniuses can systematically prove that this is the greatest super sports car ever made. But what's it actually like?

Very good indeed. The 12C is quite simply a surprising piece of engineering. It's beautifully finished, has a cabin that without delay and brilliantly becomes an extension of the driver, an engine and transmission that have gone from being drawings on a clean sheet of paper to challenging Ferrari's best in barely five years, a radical rethink of how a car's deferment should work, an equally radical re-imagining of how a car should lever, and the sort of amazing high-speed aero properties you'd wait for of something that was honed in the same state-of-the-art simulator that Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button's McLaren F1 car was optimized in.

Speaking of which, JB was on hand at the car's first media drive at the highly demanding Portimao course in Portugal's Algarve region. Now Jenson likes his supercars, and has owned most of the major players of the past 10 years, Bugatti Veyron and Porsche Carrera GT included. In other words, though he's a McLaren employee, he's also a potential customer. And he knows what he likes. And not only does he know what he likes - big performance and a healthy degree of over steer which, trust me, not all top F1 guys approve of - he's not afraid to enjoy himself when the temper takes him.

iPad 2 for 2011

Thinner, lighter, and full of great ideas.
Once you pick up iPad 2, it’ll be hard to put down. That’s the idea behind the all-new design. It’s 33 percent thinner and up to 15 percent lighter, so it feels even more comfortable in your hands.2 And it makes surfing the web, checking email, watching movies, and reading books so natural, you might forget there’s implausible technology under your fingers.

Dual-core A5 chip.It’s fast, times two.
Two powerful cores in one A5 chip mean iPad can do twice the work at once. You’ll notice the difference when you’re surfing the web, watching movies, making FaceTime video calls, gaming, and going from app to app to app. Multitasking is smoother, apps load faster, and everything just works enhanced.

Battery life keeps on going. So you can, too.
Even with the new thinner and lighter design, iPad has the same amazing 10-hour battery life.1 That’s enough juice for one flight across the ocean, or one movie-watching all-nighter, or a week’s commute athwart town. The power-efficient A5 chip and iOS keep battery life from fading away, so you can get carried away.

Two cameras and a big hello to FaceTime for iPad.
You’ll see two cameras on iPad — one on the front and one on the back. They may be tiny, but they’re a big deal. They’re designed for FaceTime video calling, and they work together so you can talk to your favorite people and see them smile and laugh back at you.3 The front camera puts you and your friend face-to-face. Switch to the back camera through your video call to share where you are, who you’re with, or what’s going on around you. When you’re not using FaceTime, let the rear camera roll if you see amazing movie-worthy. It’s HD, so whatever you shoot is a mini-masterpiece. And you can take wacky snapshots in Photo Booth. It’s the most fun a face can have.

iPad Smart Cover. Designed for iPad. And vice versa.
iPad 2 and the iPad Smart Cover are made for each other. Literally.4 We designed the iPad Smart Cover to work side-by-side with iPad — and on top and beneath it, too. Smart magnetic technology built into each really pulls them together. The iPad Smart Cover falls perfectly into place and stays put to protect your iPad screen, yet doesn’t add bulk to its thin, light design. Open the Smart Cover and your iPad wakes up instantly. Close it and your iPad goes to sleep by design. And here’s another smart part: It transforms into the perfect movie-watching, game-playing, web-surfing stand. It comes in 10 bright colors — including five in rich, aniline-dyed Italian fur.5 Choose your favorite, and your iPad will be smart all around.

2011 Honda CB1000R

Superbike Performance. And A Style All Its Own.

Feast your eyes on the all-new Honda CB1000R. Superbike performance. A comfortable, do-it-all riding position, and style that's off the charts.

The CB1000R is a new take on a timeless concept. A no-nonsense superbike that's not afraid to show off its muscle where everyone can see it. We took a CBR1000RR powerplant—and retuned it for even more midrange power and torque. Then we built a special chassis that puts the engine out front and center, and that also lets you sit more upright. The result is one of the most flexible open-class bikes the world has ever seen. And also one of the best looking.

But don’t wait to decide. Let your dealer know you want one, because accessibility will be limited for this model!

Part high-performance sportbike, part mean and lean boulevard warrior. The outrageous new CB1000RA is the Naked bike that only Honda could build, with its stunning blend of snarling, take-no-prisoners attitude and surprisingly user-friendly everyday rideability. Packing the punch of a litre-class Superbike thanks to its CBR-derived fuel-injected engine, the CB1000RA's improved low-to-midrange torque gives it extra oomph in the tight quarters of the city while retaining effortless passing power on the open road. The sturdy aluminum mono-backbone framework is visually hardly even there, but it connects the aluminum Pro-Arm swingarm and fully adjustable 43 mm upturned fork to create a chassis that's stable when you need it to be, and nimble and responsive when you want to let loose on a twisty backroad. Plus, standard Combined Braking System with ABS lets you ride with confidence even when the road surface is less than ideal. The new Honda CB1000RA: it's naked aggression in a fun-to-ride package.

 BMW G-Power LPG’d M5

The more wallet-conscious among you, however, will also be enamoured as LPG is a lot cheaper than petrol while emitting less nasty stuff than the gas-guzzling model. It, of course, verging on impossible to actually find an LPG retailer, but this is a fantasy car, so let’s fantasise, yes?

The G-Power LPG’d M5 also gets RS coil-overs, big brakes, lighter 20in alloys and the satisfied blaze of a man who has spent loads to hoard a little.

Lots more pictures to follow – it’s a good-looking beast, this one.
